Dr. Armgard von Reden is a strategy consultant in Berlin. She joined IBM in 1987 and from 2002 to 2011 she held the position of Director of Government Programs for Germany, Russia and the CIS countries. From 2001 until 2010 she was the Chief Privacy Officer for IBM in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Prior to that, she was deputy head in the IBM Government Programs Office in Brussels for EMEA. She has held several manager positions in IBM EMEA and Germany and was in charge for part of Communications, Marketing, the Press, University Relations, Corporate Social Responsibility and Standards Organizations. In addition, she chaired the IBM German Womens Leaderhip Council for roughly three years.
She served as Head of the Communication Department for the President of the German Bundestag from May 1992 until December 1994 on a leave of absence from IBM.
Prior to joining IBM she worked in the U.S. Congress as a Legislative Assistant on the House and Senate side, was a freelance journalist in the U.S. for German Newspapers and the London Economist, taught at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and Germany at the following Universities: Stuttgart, Göttingen, Bonn and now in Berlin on the subjects of German and international politics, the digital economy, and cross-cultural and diversity management. She sits on the Board of the SRH College in Berlin.
Armgard von Reden holds a M.A. and a Ph.D. from Göttingen University in Politics, Sociology and History. She lives in Berlin, Germany.
